![]() ![]() In my army, I'm using a squad of five Sternguard as a bodyguard unit available for any of my Primaris Chaplains, Librarians, or Apothecaries to use, in a similar manner to a Strategium Command Team. Interestingly, it says that Keepers with Kill Teams remove their Clavis and leave it in the care of a Deathwatch Forge-Master, so you wouldn't need to have one on the model. Alternatively, any model with the Leader ability could be modelled as one, and have the ability it gives to the squad represent its knowledge being imparted to the Kill Team it has joined. As such, I'd say that maybe a single Marine in a Kill Team could be upgraded (in terms of looks) to a Keeper, but a whole squad of them probably doesn't fit with what is written there. In the case of Keepers, the write-up suggests that they do sometimes take to the battlefield, but not as an entire squad. Any singular model, such as a Lieutenant with Combi-Weapon, could work as one on the tabletop. Now, it seems clear that I can use him as a Kill-Marine who was scouting an enemy force and required the backup of the rest of the army.īased on the write-up that the page you linked to says, a Kill-Marine doesn't really fit anywhere within a Kill Team or squad at all. In particular, one model I already was planning on buying and including in the army was the Horus Heresy Alpha Legion Exodus, converting it slightly and playing it as a counts-as Vindicare Assassin, but I didn't know where he was going to fit into the Watch Fortress's hierarchy. I'm in the process of collecting an entire Watch Fortress and was previously unaware of the existence of Kill-Marines and Keepers, so thank you for bringing them to my attention. imagine having such a kill team in the new codex composed of Sternguard like marines and Bladeguards+.Sorry I can’t play something that is not justified by the lore. I also think it’s a good “lore” way to have Sternguard, Bladeguard into a Deathwatch □. They also could be the instructors of the new coming marines to the deathwatch. It can bring a lot of flavour to the DW colour scheme. I imagine them wearing red robes and being called “crimson guard”. I’m really excited about creating this elite troup. ![]() So my proposition above is not valid and I would better place this “bodyguards” unit out of the structure. If a team has been destroyed on the battlefield, would new marines joining the deathwatch replace them or would first a team from an other company be displaced there? This would mean that there is a sort of hierarchy within the companies which is not something I have already seen in the text I read of the Deathwatch. In other chapters, if I’m not mistaken, the first company is composed of the most veterans warriors of the chapter. Then to have the squad I’m thinking of, I suggest to have teams of the 1st companies to be like “body guards” of the Keeper of Secret. But after re-reading the link above, I understand that Keeper of Secret are more individuals who should be Characters members of the strategium and then use in game profile such as Capitain or Lieutenant. My first idea for the Keeper was to have a full squad of them, composed of DW veterans (basing the miniatures on the blades guards) + a team of sternguards veterans.Where do you think Kill Marine would fill? Are they attached to a KT but operate alone for a period of time? Are they lieutenant attached to a compagnie? Or are they just out of the structure? Above that is the “strategium” composed of the Librarian(s), Apothecary, Chapelin(s).ġ. Each company has his own Capitain and sometimes lieutenants. Quick reminder, the structure of a watch fortress is designed as such: 5 companies composed of 4 KT. One “Kill Marine” (a guy operating solo for secret mission, gather informations or develop relationships with other organisation). To add some flavour and answer some modelling ideas I would like to include : As I’m taking things seriously, before building my DW army, I’m trying to draw the structure of my watch fortress. ![]()
